✂️ Join Us for a Community Ribbon Cutting: Celebrating Mars Hill’s Expanded Little Free Food Pantry

The public is invited to join a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, May 4 at 12:30 pm, celebrating the newly expanded 24/7 food pantry at Mars Hill United Methodist Church.

What began as a simple act of care has grown into something that now serves our community every single day.

In 2022, the Little Free Food Pantry at Mars Hill United Methodist Church was started in partnership with local Girl Scouts. With funds raised through cookie sales, they helped stock the very first pantry, planting the seeds of a ministry rooted in generosity, trust and neighborly care. Because of their leadership, what started small quickly became something meaningful, a place where anyone in our community could come, at any time, and find what they need.

Since then, the pantry, located in the heart of Mars Hill, has quietly served as one of the only 24/7/365 food resources in our area. Day or night, rain or shine, it has stood as a simple but powerful expression of community: take what you need, leave what you can.

This spring, that ministry grew.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Pisgah Health Foundation and WNC Bridge Foundation, we were able to install a new, larger pantry, expanding capacity and making room for even more essentials, including toiletries and personal care items. Their support has allowed us not only to continue this work, but to deepen it.

Mars Hill UNC is so deeply grateful to the Girl Scouts who began this ministry, and to Pisgah Health Foundation and WNC Bridge Foundation for helping it grow.

Now, we would love for you to be part of the next chapter.
