The Haywood Street Congregation in downtown Asheville is a ministry that began with a simple mission — to include the most excluded. It now provides respite care for those discharged from a hospital stay, and the welcome table offers lunch and an opportunity for worship on Wednesday. 

Haywood Street offers many opportunities and contexts for volunteers to share time and talents. They refer to volunteers as ‘companions,’ because they believe that the distinction is essential as they seek to build human connections and relationships.

How to Support Our Mission of the Month

Currently, financial donations are needed to fund extensive roof repairs. If you wish to make a monetary gift, please write your check to MHUMC and put ‘Haywood Street’ on the memo line.
