Mars Hill United Methodist Church participates in missions of the broader United Methodist Church. Our members are involved weekly in Neighbors in Need in Madison County; Haywood Street Clothing Closet, and the Haywood Street Congregation serving the homeless in Asheville.

Your Mars Hill Community Connections

The congregation hosts chapters of Alcoholics Anonymous and narcotics anonymous, a local Boy Scouts of America Troop, a Madison County 4-h club and the Church Mice artists.

Church reaches Mars Hill community

A story by Lance Hickey featured in the Weaverville Tribune

Mars Hill United Methodist Church proved to be a uniquely inviting congregation. With both a traditional and contemporary presentation style, the church offers services to all age groups. The congregation’s and Pastor Hartzog’s enthusiasm for the church and community was obvious. Mars Hill United Methodist Church continues to leave its stamp on the Mars Hill community.

Countdown to the Special Session of the General Conference 2019

Perspectives on a Way Forward

From United Methodist News: A panel discussion, streamed on February 6, featured speakers for each of the major plans proposed to the 2019 General Conference.

Between February 24 and 26 of 2019, a Special Session of the United Method Church’s General Conference will convene in St. Louis, Mo. This is a gathering of United Methodist delegates from around the world to determine the course of our United Methodist Church moving forward.

Will we remain united amid differing beliefs about questions of human sexuality?

The actions of these proceedings will have long-reaching consequences. In early February, there was a live stream presentation of the proposals being brought forward at the conference. This panel discussion featured speakers for each of the major plans proposed to the 2019 General Conference.
