Call to Worship
In the beginning, God breathed life into the dust.
Breath became life.
At Pentecost, the Spirit rushed like a mighty wind.
Breath became power.
Fear gave way to courage.
Silence gave way to witness.
The Spirit was poured out on everyone.
Young and old, near and far.
Come, Holy Spirit.
Breathe new life into us again.
Let us worship the God who renews the world.

When the Spirit Breaks Loose
Joys, Concerns, and Prayers of the People with the Lord’s Prayer
Holy Spirit, Breath of God,
You move through locked rooms and weary hearts,
through languages we understand and silences too deep for words.
Come among us again.
Set our hearts on fire with love, our minds on justice,
and our feet on the path of peace.
Give us this day the courage we need
to live with compassion in a wounded world.
Forgive us when fear keeps us small,
when comfort keeps us quiet,
and when we fail to recognize your image in one another.
As you forgive and restore us,
teach us to forgive and restore others.
Lead us away from despair and division,
and deliver us from hatred, violence, and hopelessness.
For yours is the Spirit that still speaks,
the fire that still transforms,
and the love that still makes all things new—
now and forever. Amen.
